The story about a 13-year-old witch, Kiki, who moves to a seaside town with her talking cat, Jiji, to spend a year alone, in accordance with her village's tradition for witches in training. After learning to control her broomstick, Kiki sets up a flying courier service and soon becomes a fixture in the community. Being young and full of insecurities, the young witch must overcome her self-doubt to get her powers back as her insecurity and self-questioningmakes her lose her magic abilities.
Essentially, Kiki's Delivery Service is about creatives and entrepreneurs who every now and then lose their ability to create, whether it be as a result of exhaustion, lack of inspiration, or depression. As you can imagine, this must have been something that happened to Hayao Miyazaki too at one point in his life.
Umi no Mieru Machi (A Town With An Ocean View) describes the wonderful scenery of the Kiki's Delivery Service's Setting. A wondderful town facing the ocean where the young witch started her job as the town's friendly witch who offers delivery service and become a significant member of the village.
